The BFA Youth Program operates Youth Summer Camps for teens aged 13-18. The Summer Camps are the ultimate experience for teens who want to learn more about hot air ballooning. No need to worry if you don’t have experience handling balloons. If your teen is pumped about ballooning, send him or her to camp in Dubuque, Iowa and Reno, Nevada. Time to plan for your teenage hot air prodigy to attend one of these great camps.

We would like to thank BFA member Tom Jones and his family for organizing the Michigan Hot Air Balloon Summer Camp that is going on this week. Barb Jones tells me that all is well and we look for a full report next week.
Despite some airport delays, the Balloon Federation of America hosted 20 teens and 8 volunteers at its 5th ballooning summer camp in Tyler TX July 12-16. Campers came from California, New Mexico, Colorado, South and Central Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Of those in attendance, 9 are actively pursuing pilot certs! As I watched this group, I realized that I was viewing a slice of the future and oh what a joy it will be. The enthusiasm of this group was highly contagious.
