REV-GTBR_2012_logo_RGB12012 U.S. Nationals Competitors 5-16-12.pdf

The finalized version of the rules has been recently approved by the HACD Board of Directors (2012 Nationals Rules & Regulations FINAL.pdf).  I encourage you to take some time to familiarize yourself with the rules as there are some subtle changes which were needed as the Championship shifts from Battle Creek, MI to Longview, TX.  The BFA will again be using the Dakota 10 loggers so if you haven't yet familiarized yourself with the units please do so.  Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your Regional Director or myself.

2012 BFA/HACD Member List Print E-mail
Written by HACD Board of Directors
Monday, 12 March 2012 09:22

Attention Event Directors, Race Organizers, and Competitors!

The BFA through its Competition Division has put together a working list to reduce the work load for all when submitting scores for the National Ranking System. It the past event officials have turned in scores with the names of pilots who they believed were current HACD Task Cardholders.  Many times all of this hard work was for not, and the BFA office and those event directors ended up working for weeks after the event  to shore up the list and provide the task scores for the pilots who deserve them.

Now on the BFA web site under the “Competition” heading and then found on the “Members” tab you will find the Task Card Holders List.  The list will be updated every Tuesday throughout the year.  It should allow all organizers and competitors to know if their standing in the competition division.  Scores for competitors on the list will be included in the National Ranking System.  The opportunity to pay your membership dues via the website will still be available but must be paid before an event starts to have the scores included.

The HACD would like to thank Sharon Ripperger for her work developing the list and her willingness to update the list weekly.

HACD_LogoThe HACD board has finalized the 2012 US Nationals Eligibility List (pdf) in advance of this year's National Championship.  All 164 pilots with a National Ranking are listed and encouraged to complete an application to the event when they come out this Spring.  Applications will be considered based on the order listed in the eligibility list so long as the pilot completes the application in full by the deadline.  In the likely case the event reaches capacity at 50 competitors a waiting list will be formed and published in order of the eligibility list.  For more information on the construction of the Eligibility List feel free to visit Appendix E (Page 45) of the 2012 Rules.  Check back for more details regarding the 2012 National Championship as we'll be updating the site as information becomes available.

Thanks,

Chase Donner

201220worlds20logo20home

 Dear Ballooning Community,

As you may know, the 20th FAI World Hot Air Balloon Championship will be held next August in Battle Creek, Michigan.  103 competitors will be coming to Battle Creek from around the world.  The cost of international travel and freight has gone up enormously in the last few years and the cost of bringing a team to the U.S. with equipment can easily exceed $10,000.  Many foreign competitors have already inquired into renting whole balloon systems or bottom ends to match up with their balloon envelope.
