The 2013 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is more than a year away but what will the theme be? Balloon Fiesta officials are hoping you will help decide. For the first time ever, officials are placing selection of the event's theme in the hands of Balloon Fiesta fans. To vote, simply go to the Balloon Fiesta Facebook page and select your favorite. The choices are “Cut to the Chase”, “Albuquerque by Morning”, “Enchanted Sunrise”, “It’s a Matter of Altitude” and “Sky’s the Limit.” But hurry - the voting ends Monday, June 25th! |

The pilot of a balloon that went down in New Zealand four months ago was found to have tested positive for cannabis, post-mortem. New Zealand’s Transport Accident Investigation Commission said that while findings had not linked cannabis use to the accident, the test results were “concerning”.

ROSWELL, New Mexico – March 15, 2012 – Austria’s Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a space capsule from an altitude of approximately 71,580 feet as the Red Bull Stratos project moved forward into the manned flight stage in New Mexico. The 42-year-old rode the space capsule attached to a giant helium balloon above the so-called “Armstrong Line.”

Bert Padelt and Johnny Petrehn receive their Montgolfier Diplomas at the National Aeronautic Association's Fall Award's Banquet November 7, 2011. Petrehn also received the 2010 Harmon Trophy recognizing his World Hot Air Balloon Championship title.
