The Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) and it's Ballooning
Commission (CIA) recently published their Autumn 2010 newsletter.
Congratulations to John Petrehn for claiming the top spot in the latest
World Ranking List as well as fellow Americans Nick Donner (4th), Joe
Heartsill (7th) and Paul Petrehn (15th) on each of their respective
rankings.

Longtime balloonist, Bob Zanella passed away December 2, 2010 after a short illness. Bob’s ballooning career started in 1971 with the purchase of a ‘state of the art’ Semco Balloon system.

John Petrehn Wins 2nd World Championship Print E-mail

BFA member Johnny Petrehn has claimed his 2nd World Championship in competition against 117 of the world's best hot air balloon pilots in Hungary. Petrehn used the fnal flight of 6 tasks to leapfrog teammate Nick Donner who had led the compeition from the beginning but ended up in 2nd.

NOBPA has established the Steve Lachendro Award to honor the memory and legacy of Steve. The award acknowledges the cooperative spirit of an individual always willing to help others; one who places sportsmanship and teamwork above self interest. The recipient should have that child-like twinkle in their eyes when doing anything dealing with hot air ballooning especially when encouraging the involvement of others.
