The 2022 Frontier Days Festival will be back to a full schedule as we celebrate 50 years of Frontier Days.
Fifty years ago, a group Carson City residents met to discuss hosting a celebration modeled after the Centennial celebration that was held in 1967. Members from a variety of community organizations gave brainstormed ideas for a weekend full of fun. Since our city was named after Carson City, Nevada, the group decided on a western themed celebration.
Since the beginning, Carson City Frontier Days has celebrated with Country Western shows, rodeos, magic shows, canoe races, tractor pulls, carnival rides, parades, picnics, dances, hot air balloons and pageants.
Although Frontier Days has changed over the years, one thing remains. It is a time for friends, family, and neighbors to come together to celebrate the joys of living in a small town.
As we plan for the 2022 festival to celebrate this milestone, we strive to give our festival-goers a combination of traditional activities as well as new ones.
