Description

Old West Balloon Fest was a rally put on in the late 1980's early 1990's. It ran for 10 years and was very successful. The last year it was held, there were over 15,000 spectators. The Scottsbluff Area Tourism Board would like to revive the rally. We are hoping for 20 balloons and have 12 registered at this point. There will be a festival all weekend in conjunction with the rally at the Scottsbluff County fairgrounds. Live music, vendor booths, and balloon glow set to music. We are giving pilots $100.00 show up money, paying for hotel, and several parties in honor of pilots. The flying area is beautiful views of Scottsbluff National Monument and the Old Oregon Trail. There are many area attractions and museums that are specific to the Old Oregon Trail. There is a large lake with one of the only inland light houses in the country. Scottsbluff and surrounding area towns are very excited to have the rally return. They have received several grants from Nebraska Tourism Board to make this a huge success.
