Description

Our historic campus in Statesville with its stately buildings and the downtown location is complemented by our growing and thriving campus in Mooresville. Each campus offers incredible opportunities for academic, professional, and personal growth.

The College offers a variety of curriculum and continuing education course offerings. You will find everything from Agribusiness Technology to the Fine Arts. There are few community colleges that offer such a strong variety of options for students. At one moment you may be standing on the stage in Shearer Hall where you can be trained in world-class musical performance accompanied by one of our Steinway and Sons Grand Piano and a pipe organ; the next moment you may be across campus standing in our Advanced Integrated Machining lab gaining valuable knowledge in advanced manufacturing skills. Then again you could be in Mooresville taking courses in our Computer Technology Integration program or on Front Street working on our Urban Farm.

Our Continuing Education division offers basic skills training for those who may need to refresh and refine their educational skills. Our occupational extension programs offer courses tailored to individual needs and our ability to respond to the workforce and industry needs through training is world-class.

Mitchell Community College’s instructional philosophy is based on Contextual Teaching and Learning. Simply stated, we recognize that there should be a porous boundary between what is taught in the classroom and what is going on in the world around us. We strive to make the learning opportunities that we provide relevant to all students.

All of the work that we do for our students and the community is based upon our Foundational Competencies. These include our Mission, Purpose, Beliefs, and Statements of Integrity. We demonstrate these through the programs that we offer, our partnerships with the community, industry, and educational organizations, the relevant use of technology, and innovative thinking.
